Dishwasher Error Codes

LG Dishwasher Error Codes

LG dishwashers spell out most faults as a short code on the display — OE, IE, LE, AE, and more — and every code listed below is a real, documented LG fault with what it means and what's worth checking before you book a service call.

This is an independent reference site. It is not affiliated with LG or any other manufacturer named here — the LG name is used only to identify which manufacturer's codes this page covers. See the About page for how pages are sourced and checked.

How LG shows a fault code

On the great majority of LG dishwashers built in the last decade or so — the LDF, LDP, and LDT-style lineups with a digital control panel — the code appears directly on the display as two letters, occasionally with a lowercase second character like tE or bE to keep it visually distinct from a similarly-shaped code. That's the version this page documents.

A smaller number of older or simpler LG models use indicator lights instead of a text display and signal the same underlying faults by blinking a pattern rather than spelling out letters. Because the blink mapping isn't identical across every LG dishwasher generation, don't guess from a generic blink-code chart — check the use-and-care manual for your specific model number, or look it up on LG's support site, if your unit doesn't show letters directly. The Blinking Lights With No Error Code Shown page covers what to do if you can't match a light pattern to anything on this list.

No code showing — just a problem?

If your LG dishwasher is misbehaving but the display isn't showing any of the codes above, these symptom pages start from what the unit is actually doing instead of from a code:

How these pages are checked

Each LG code above is verified against LG's own USA support library — either a code-specific help article or the consolidated LG Dishwasher Guide to Error Codes — before it's published here, and each code page links back to the exact source used. No LG fault is listed on this site based on a guess or a symptom match alone.

This site is an independent reference, not a substitute for a licensed appliance technician or electrician, and is not affiliated with Bosch, Samsung, LG, Whirlpool, KitchenAid, or any other manufacturer named here. Dishwashers combine mains-voltage electrical parts with water. Always shut off both power and the water supply before opening the tub, pump, or heating element housing, and if a repair goes beyond checking filters, hoses, detergent, and visible debris, call a licensed technician.
