Dishwasher Error Codes

LG IE Error Code: Not Enough Water Reaching the Tub

Medium severity

IE means your LG dishwasher started its fill step and never saw the water level climb high enough within the roughly ten minutes it allows before giving up.

Applies to: Most LG dishwasher models with a digital control panel, across the same LDF/LDP/LDT-style lineups that use OE for drain faults.

What it means

LG's inlet/fill error means the water level in the tub didn't reach the expected height within about 10 minutes of the fill starting, so the control board stops the cycle rather than run a wash with too little water in the tub.

LG's own guide phrases the underlying reading as the water level staying "too low (insufficient water) after 30 sec~10 minutes," and treats a fresh install or a half-open shutoff valve as the single most common trigger before anything mechanical is at fault.

Common causes

What you can check yourself

  1. Confirm the water shutoff valve is fully open
  2. Check the inlet supply hose for kinks
  3. Check the small filter screen on the water inlet valve for clogs
  4. Confirm the drain hose's high point is at least roughly 12 inches above the dishwasher's base to prevent siphoning

Call a professional when

If supply pressure and hose routing are both fine and IE persists, the water inlet valve or solenoid is the likely failure point and should be tested by a technician. Water inlet valve replacement is one of the repairs industry cost guides bucket into the roughly $150–$400 range for a common single-part fix, on top of whatever diagnostic fee the company charges to confirm it.
