Dishwasher Error Codes

Samsung OE: Over-Level Water Error

Medium severity

OE (sometimes shown as oE, OC, or 0C) means the dishwasher has more water sitting in the tub than the cycle expects at this point, and it's rarely the fill valve's fault.

Applies to: Most Samsung DW-series dishwashers with digital displays (OE, oE, OC and 0C all reference the same over-level water fault family)

What it means

Despite looking like a fill problem, OE is usually a drainage problem wearing a different code. There is more water in the tub than there should be at this point in the cycle, which is most often a downstream symptom of a drainage problem rather than the fill system adding too much water.

Common causes

What you can check yourself

  1. Clean the filter assembly and check the drain hose and air gap exactly as you would for a drain error
  2. Check the float assembly (usually a small dome near the front of the tub floor) for anything blocking it from moving freely
  3. Power-cycle the unit and run a normal cycle once debris is cleared

Call a professional when

If clearing the drain path doesn't resolve it, a stuck water inlet valve or a bad float switch needs to be tested and replaced by a technician.
